DO SOCIOLOGISTS NEED POLISH SOCIOLOGICAL JOURNALS?

Accompanying event organised by the Committee of Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences

Referring to the long and rich tradition of Polish sociological journals, the Committee of Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences is organising a special event dedicated to them. The initiator of the event is prof. dr. hab. Piotr Kwiatkowski, editor-in-chief of “Kultura i Społeczeństwo.” [Culture and Society]

At the beginning of our panel, we will present the results of a survey on the current importance of Polish sociological journals, followed by a discussion focused on three topics:

1. What does the future hold for Polish sociological journals? Are they likely to decline gradually, or can we look forward with optimism regarding their future?

2. What supports and obstructs Polish sociological journal editors in their work?

3. How should Polish sociological journals be evaluated? Should they conform to the currently applicable standards, or should we seek alternative methods for their evaluation?

We invite all interested participants, including publishers, editors, reviewers, and authors, whether or not they submit articles to Polish sociological journals.
